This album tries to take familiar instruments and sounds and subvert our expectations of how they sound together. An album of piano surrounded by synth textures has immediate connotations in today's music world. But what if the piano has been prepared with magnets and screws, creating off kilter timbres? What if the synths are overdriven and prone to glitch? The timbres grow in energy, and the moments of calm are hard won.
